Cooper can party on

Injured Wallaby flyhalf Quade Cooper is free to party on, according to Reds coach Ewen McKenzie.

The sometimes wayward and capricious Wallaby star Quade Cooper landed in hot water again, when the 23-year-old was banned from a popular southeast Queensland pub after an altercation with a female patron.

The Reds management confirmed in a statement this week that Cooper was ejected from the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel on December 30, after an altercation with a local male and his girlfriend.

According to The Daily Telegraph the Reds coach, McKenzie, has now also leapt to the defence of Cooper - who is recovering from major knee surgery.

McKenzie said he would "talk more" about the incident with his playmaker, but he had no issues with Cooper being out while continuing his rehabilitation.

"What do you want him to do - sit at home," McKenzie told the Telegraph.

"He can't just sit in his lounge all day. He's got to be able to celebrate and do stuff like everybody else."

It is not the first time Cooper had landed himself in trouble after overindulging over the festive season.

In December 2009 Cooper was charged by police with burglary after taking a laptop from a residence on the Gold Coast.

Cooper was apprehended by police about 4am.

The charges were later withdrawn after "completion of a justice mediation process with the complainants" and the stolen computer was recovered.
